Bluffing in Poker
Bluffing is to pretend that you have a better hand, cards than you really
have.
This a very important part of poker and a important weapon for every poker
player's games.
But, I have to warn you if you are new to poker. Bluffing is often misused
and unexperianced pokerplayers
tend to bluff heavily against everyone with every type of hand. This is a
huge mistake. Sucsessfull bluffing in poker is
made once in a while and after some serious timing. The best thing is if
everyone else at the table folds.
Everyone at the table will soon read your bluffs if make them too often.
If you know when to bluff and not you will heavily increase your chances to
win the pot.
You must wait for your turn and watch the other players before you make your
bluffs.
The goal when bluffing in poker is to let the other players to think that you
have a better hand than you obviously have.
It is very important to not be predictable and not to give away your tells.
Situations you might want to bluff is:
When there is few players in the pot. This is a common bluff and the
bluffing players is hoping that he has got ther best hand even when he
donīt.
Not many players with a bad hand will buy this on the other hand.
Against obvious newbie pokerplayers.
When you are playing at micro-limit tables I advice you to not bluff at all.
The type of players attracted to this type of games want to play as many
hands as they can and they will not buy your bluff.
And if the players are really bad they dont have the experiance to read you
and many of them donīt even care to try to read you.
Another type of bluffing is Semi-bluffing. This is a bluff but with a
semi-bluff you you have a better chance to win.
If someone chooses not to fold for you, you can still hit your winning hand.
The semi-bluff is best used when you have a nice hand before the river, but
maybe one card short from a real killer hand.
Good luck with you game, but once again, donīt bluff too often!
